Vox Group has appointed Peter Smith as Managing Director of Vox Group Australasia, in a move that sees the world’s biggest provider of Tour Guide Systems expand its footprint deep into Oceania. Elio Epifani, Vox Group President, said: “Peter is a travel industry executive with extensive experience, and he was quick to see the huge potential for Vox in Australia and New Zealand. We are delighted that he has joined the team”. Smith recently visited the corporate headquarters in Rome, to join forces with John Boulding, the CMO of Vox Group. The pair go back a long way, both having joined Insight Vacations in London in the early 1980s and their paths crossing many times since. “I’m really excited to be working with John” commented Smith, “And we’re expecting to do big things across the new territory”
The Sydney office will offer full services, including tour guide audio systems, destination application and smartphone technology, venue audio guiding and multi-language translation and conferencing facilities.
In the bigger picture, Vox works with over 3,500 partners across the globe, including the Vatican City, with which it has had an exclusive agreement for tourist management at St Peter’s Basilica for many years.
Smith is also taking POPGuide to Australasia. This unique smartphone app has been designed to deliver mapping, navigation, audio services and tour information for tour and cruise operators, museums and cultural attractions, tourist offices, airports, cruising, cultural attractions, hotels and travel agents.
He has a bunch of other innovations ready to showcase to the antipodean industry too, including the ‘Vox City Guide’ and ‘Unmissable Visits’ programmes, Vox2Go and VoxOverWiFi.
Vox Australasia is fully operational from February 2019.
